Macquarie University – E7B Thermal Plant Upgrade
The project involves the replacement of existing chilled water plant that had reached end of life and provision of a new larger chilled and heating hot water system to provide increased capacity for new teaching/laboratory spaces as well as to serve the already existing FCU network in the building. The system comprises of 2-off water cooled chillers, cooling towers, thermal storage tanks, pumps and associated plant. A new Building Management Control System (BMCS) was also provided with energy management and interfaced to the site wide BMCS. Energy efficiency measures included use of high efficiency water cooled chillers with magnetic bearing compressors, variable speed primary and secondary chilled and hot water pumps, thermal storage, and high efficiency condensing boilers.
CJP was engaged to provide detailed design documentation on the replacement works for this project. The design supplied also included provisions for a possible future connection to the district loop for both feeding in and out based upon demand.
